We're sad to bring the news that Gregg Knoche passed away this week. Gregg's wife Mary is the daughter of Clara and Chester Tomaszycki. Mary would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support for Gregg and their family over his 4-year battle with colon cancer. Please continue to pray for them to be consoled in this sorrowful time. This Friday, June 28th, Visitation for Gregg will be at the Gendernalik Funeral Home, 23 Mile Rd, New Baltimore from 2:30pm until 8pm with the Rosary at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, June 29th, at St. Hyacinth Roman Catholic Church, 3151 Farnsworth St., Detroit. In State at 10am with Holy Mass at 11am.

Another Michigander is on the path to sainthood!

Many thanks to Mark and his grandson Avery for working hard this week to install some new lights. Mark has completed many projects over the last few years with other parishioners and it's great to see him teaching the next generation the importance of service!

Thank you to everyone for celebrating Fr. Janusz's 70th birthday yesterday! We are so please he announced that while he has reached the age of retirement in the AOD, he has agreed to the archbishop's request to remain at St. Hyacinth and Queen of Apostles. Fr. Janusz expressed his appreciation of the parish, the parishioners and committed to serving our parish as long as his health will allow. To this end, Father expressed appreciation for all the prayers on his behalf and encouraged continued prayers not just for him, but for the vocations in general.

We are sad to announce that Stanley Palmer passed away on May 22, 2019 at the age of 51. Stanley is loved and will be missed by all who knew him. He is remembered as a big teddy bear with a heart of gold. Stanley is the beloved son of Patricia and the late Russell. Dear brother of Angie (Rodney) Dean, Sandy (Ron) Bielak, Peggy (the late Don) Grigg, Russell Jr. (the late Diane) and Peter (Collette). Loving uncle of Nikki, Colleen (Kevin), Crystal (Michael), Jessica (Bryan), Lauren, Keith, Scottie (Sheila), Debbie (Christopher), Sarah, Russell III, Joshua and Gabrielle. Proud great uncle of Sue, Kendra, Seth, Lilly, Owen, Dominic, Landon, Killian, Bryan and Aurora. Stanley was a fervent supporter of Saint Hyacinth parish, always willing to help out at parish functions. Stanley could always be found selling raffle tickets outside the church no matter what the weather was like. A memorial mass will take place on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 10:00am at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, 3151 Farnsworth, Detroit. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Today, Archbishop Vigneron released his fourth pastoral letter, encouraging us to focus on reclaiming Sunday as a day of rest and witness. In that vein, he announced that the AOD will be moving all sports activities (competition and practices) from Sundays to other days of the week. "In shifting away from the hustle of required sporting activities on Sunday, we will reclaim this holy day and create more time for families to choose activities that prioritize time spent with each other and our Lord." Every Sunday in November we read names that were submitted to the All Souls Novena and pray a decade of the rosary for the repose of their souls. May God have mercy on all those who have died.

Thanks to everyone who came Sunday! We saw many new faces and it makes all the hard work worth it! A special thanks to our new friends on bikes from We Bike Detroit! They joined the Banana Festival after a 17 mile bike ride and still had 3 miles to go! Check out some more videos from their ride in the comments.
